Dental Check-Ups & Cleanings

Dental check-ups in our Kensington office are available in a variety of forms to meet your unique oral health goals. We offer an exclusive line of private dentistry check-ups that will work for any smile. At every level, our general appointments are conducted to check for signs of common oral issues in their early stages before they become unmanageable dental diseases. Dr. Aydazada will carefully examine the teeth, gums, soft tissue (cheeks, tongue, lips), and facial structures. We are looking for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and mouth cancer among other common oral health issues. Dr. Aydazada is also happy to partner with one of our skilled dental hygienists to offer a combined dental check-up and cleaning appointment. Professional teeth cleanings are important to remove buildup from surfaces of teeth that may be difficult to clean at home. Don’t hesitate to ask Dr. Aydazada or one of our team members any questions you have about your check-up options.

Fissure Sealants

Fissures or the deep pits and grooves in the biting surfaces of teeth are completely natural. Unfortunately, these crevices are so deep it can be difficult to remove buildup from the teeth even with the most thorough at home hygiene routine. Fissure sealants allow us to completely coat teeth in a clear plastic that prevents bacteria from being trapped in these deep fissures reducing your risk for dental decay. Fissure sealants take just minutes to apply, and once hardened, they can last for years.

Children’s Dentistry

Dr. Aydazada loves working with young patients. Helping young patients achieve their healthiest smiles is extremely rewarding, and building good hygiene habits early is the key to keeping smiles healthy for a lifetime. When your child visits our office, he or she will be given the same high level of care we provide our adult patients. We take extra time to carefully explain every aspect of the check-up to children, so they are not frightened or confused. Our goal is to make dental care something your child looks forward to.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Grinding and clenching teeth at night, an oral health concern known as bruxism, may seem like nothing more than a bad habit, but it can significantly damage teeth over time. Many patients suffer from bruxism their entire lives, but it is commonly caused by misaligned bite or stress. If you or a loved one suffer from bruxism, Dr. Kamala will thoroughly assess the condition and provide you with a tailored advice on the most optimum treatment plan that will fit you. A custom crafted mouthguard will also be prescribed. Worn at night, these guards prevent teeth from rubbing together causing excessive wear, chips, and cracks.

Mouthguards / Sportsguards

If you engage in any athletic event where your smile may come in contact with other players or hard surfaces, it is essential that you wear a specialized mouthguard known as a sportsguard to protect your teeth. In addition to potentially causing irreparable harm to your smile, sports injuries can lead to serious soft tissue lacerations and other concerns. Custom crafted sportsguards from Dr. Aydazada are comfortable and effective, and protect your smile during any high impact athletic events.

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride is one of the many nutrients that make it possible for you to develop strong, healthy tooth enamel. Prior to the eruption of teeth, ingested fluoride is necessary, but once teeth erupt from the gum line, only topical fluoride treatments are effective to fortify tooth enamel. We apply fluoride varnish as part of regular check-up appointments to improve tooth enamel density and reduce your risk for decay. If you are interested in fluoride varnish, please feel free to inquire at your next appointment.

Periodontal Therapy

Early stage gum disease, gingivitis, can be treated with more regular hygiene appointments. Left untreated, the disease progresses and destroys soft tissue and supportive alveolar bone that supports teeth. When this occurs, we perform a more complex cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing. The scaling process is a systematic removal of buildup and damaged tissue, and root planing is a smoothing of tooth roots to prevent buildup and gum damage in the future.

Digital X-Rays

X-rays offer Dr. Aydazada the ability to clearly view the underlying structures of your smile. These high definition, low-radiation digital x-rays allow us to capture the images quickly and comfortably. Most importantly, digital x-rays make it possible for Dr. Aydazada to diagnose complications and dental decay in the earliest stages. These x-rays are also essential in the treatment planning process. We use x-ray images to design dental restorations that will look, feel, and function like your own natural tooth.

Intraoral Camera

We can capture photos of your smile to help you better understand any oral health concerns and the various treatment options. These photos are captured using an intraoral camera that is small enough to fit comfortably in the mouth, so we can capture pictures of your smile from the dentist’s perspective. This ensures you see exactly what we do, and can better understand your own oral health. Our goal is to make you a partner in your treatment planning.
